Nozzle

Process Introduction

The Nozzle is a key component of an SMT Mounter that uses vacuum suction to pick up electronic components and precisely place them at designated positions on the PCB. The Holder, Nozzle Changer, and Nozzle Station support proper storage, alignment, automatic replacement, and secure mounting of the Nozzle.

Work Information
Work Introduction

If contaminants such as Flux, Dust, and solder particles accumulate inside the Nozzle and Holder, or if the Spring is damaged, issues such as reduced vacuum suction, component drops, placement errors, and automatic Nozzle change failures may occur. Used Nozzles and Holders are collected and cleaned, and the Spring and mounting condition are inspected. The Nozzle Station is then rearranged according to the Recipe for each production line. This process ensures stable suction performance and placement accuracy, helping maintain SMT process quality and productivity.

Work Details
  • Collect the removed Nozzles and Holders and transfer them to the designated PM work area.
  • Remove Flux and contaminants from inside the Holder using a dedicated cleaning solution and cotton swabs.
  • Inspect the Holder Spring for damage and replace defective components as necessary.
  • Mount the Nozzles on a dedicated Jig, clean them, and remove residual moisture using an Air Gun.
  • Remove particles from inside the Nozzle Station and rearrange the Nozzles according to the Recipe for each production line.
  • Pack the completed items in anti-static packaging and store them in designated storage containers.
Work Results
  • Maintain stable vacuum suction performance to prevent Mis-Picks and component drops.
  • Reduce Nozzle mounting and automatic change errors to improve equipment operational stability.
  • Maintain placement accuracy to minimize quality issues such as Tombstoning and misalignment.
  • Improve SMT productivity and process yield by ensuring a consistent supply of properly maintained Nozzles.
