Reel Merge
Process Introduction
The Reel Merge process consolidates materials distributed across 7-inch and 13-inch Reels into a single 22-inch Reel. By enabling continuous feeding of the same material from one Reel, it helps reduce material changeovers and loading time in SMT equipment.
Work Information
When small Reels are loaded individually, frequent Reel changeovers can increase equipment downtime. Incorrect linkage of material codes and LOT information may also result in material mix-ups and traceability errors. Before merging, the material codes and LOT information are verified, and the CCS and Barcode information is registered in the equipment. The Reels are then sequentially loaded onto the Carrier and consolidated into a 22-inch Reel. After completion, a new Barcode is issued and the merge history is recorded to ensure material traceability while improving equipment utilization and production efficiency.
- Verify the material codes and LOT information of the 7-inch and 13-inch Reels.
- Inspect the specifications and material condition of the Reels before merging.
- Sequentially consolidate and wind materials from the smaller Reels onto a 22-inch Reel.
- Check the material orientation and connection condition during the winding process.
- After merging, inspect the winding condition and material status of the Reel.
- Issue and attach a new Barcode to update the material information.
- Verify the completed Reel and work history to maintain material traceability.
- Reduce equipment Downtime by minimizing Reel changeovers and material loading time.
- Improve SMT equipment uptime and hourly production output through continuous material supply.
